My testimony is as follows:
I am 31 years old and a new mom to a 7 month old baby girl. I have always been into fitness and loved that time to myself. After getting pregnant and having my daughter, I gained so much weight and literally got so down on myself. I've never been a depressed person but not being able to fit into anything and never feeling good enough about the way you look to even leave the house. I got into such a funk to where I was at home all the time and that's because I didn't want anyone to see how I looked. I know as a new mother you shouldn't be so down on yourself but I was. Being unsociable has never been me. I was always outgoing and never passed up a chance to do anything fun. I found this challenge on Facebook and knew I needed something like this to help me get focused and back on track. It was hard at first but when I got going with it, I got enough self esteem to show myself in public. I got back into crossfit and even got my husband to start eating better with me. I am not back where I was before my daughter but I feel better in my clothes, feel better about my image and feel that I'm back to being a good mom and wife as well. I'm not down and sad anymore. I have replaced that with determination to not ever let myself get to that level of depression again. My home is happier, my health is better, and my heart is so thankful for this opportunity that I got to work with Billie Jo and all the other ladies in the group that supported me and pushed me to keep going. This was not only a get healthy and weight loss success for me, it was a life changing even that I conquered and came our better than ever!
Thank you Billie Jo, you did more for me than you will ever know.

Fit Chick Challenge
Every week, I try to give my clients a new challenge to complete over the weekend, in the effort to slowly but surely turn all of these good habits into an effortless lifestyle. Because ultimately, that is what we are all after - a LIFESTYLE shift. A MINDSET MAKEOVER. Not a diet, not a pill, not a magic potion you drink, or a 7-day quick fix. There is no end date to taking care of ourselves.The goal is FOREVER. And when you really commit yourself and really do the work, the results will last. Overall health is about longevity.
And what you will earn from all of this effort and energy put forth toward yourself is measured not in pounds or inches lost, but in everything you will GAIN: a body that can literally do anything you ask of it and power the actions your mind dreams up; a confidence that comes from knowing yourself, caring for yourself, and respecting yourself….etc….
The rewards are continuous and evolving. It’s about CONSISTENCY. Striving for progress, not perfection. Over and over again. Turning your can’ts into ‘I can’ and those goals into plans.
Your challenge this week is NUTRITION-BASED.
(And a little tough love moment real quick - If nutrition is something you struggle with, own up to it! Ask for help. Because honest-to-goodness, if your nutrition never changes then your body will never change. As much as we wish it were true, we can NEVER out train a bad diet)
Ok, back to the challenge loves! :)
I would like for you to pick ONE healthy recipe (or a couple) from your TFC meal plan, Pinterest browsing OR one you create yourself and cook it over the weekend. Whatever you choose, I want you to make sure of THREE things:
1.
It’s HEALTHY and will give your body NUTRIENTS
You will be excited about cooking it and then enjoying the fruits of your labor (eating it)
2.
Take note of how you FEEL after eating a nutritious meal, then stay accountable and post your meal on your social media pages with that Hashtags #fitchickchallenge #texasfitchicks
3.
The recipes can be for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Healthy dessert recipes are a bonus!

A Day in the life of our Ultimate FIT CHICK Challenge
We've heard your requests and are excited to share with you a sneak peek into a day of our new Ultimate FIT CHICK Challenge! This program is FULL of family friendly recipes and is very real and do-able for busy moms. Enjoy these recipes and if you want more information on the complete program and what it includes, there is a link below to help you find the website.
Breakfast
Oatmeal
& Banana Twist
2 tbsp. whole oats (soaked overnight)
2 tbsp. live yogurt
1 slightly under-ripe banana, chopped
5 walnuts, chopped
½ tsp. honey
Instructions: Simply combine all ingredients in a bowl or glass,
mix together and serve!
Snack One: 2 Celery Stalks with 2T Almond Butter
Lunch
Shrimp & Avocado Salad
*Shrimp
& Avocado Salad
1 avocado, stoned, peeled and halved
1 handful of shelled, cooked shrimp
OR marinated tempeh/ mixed beans
2 tbsp. live yogurt
Juice of 1 lemon
1 handful of watercress
2 cooked beetroots, chopped
1 handful of cherry vine tomatoes
Instructions: Mix the lemon with the yogurt. Pile the shrimp on
top of the avocado and serve with a salad of watercress, beetroots and
tomatoes.
*Skinny Burger (Serves 2)
5oz lean minced beef – preferably organic
12g chopped fresh cilantro
½ red onion
½ tsp. Dijon mustard
1 free range egg
½ tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
A little salt & freshly ground black pepper
To serve:
Sliced pickles
Avocado
Mozzarella cheese
Iceberg lettuce
Instructions: Preheat your grill. Mix all burger ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine, then once mixed create two equal sized patties. Grill the burgers for 15 min or until cooked through, flip them once. Top each patty with a slice of mozzarella toward the end of cooking and allow to melt.
Serve with slices of avocado and sliced pickles. Instead of a bun, sandwich the patties with large crisps leaves of iceberg lettuce.
Mushroom Mozzarella Burger
*Mushroom
and Mozzarella Burger (serves 2)
2 large (pam-sized) flat mushrooms,
with stalks removed
1 tbsp. extra virgin coconut oil
1 ball of mozzarella
To serve:
1 Large vine tomato, sliced
½ an avocado, sliced
¼ red onion, diced
Iceberg lettuce
Instructions: Pre-heat your oven to 350. Drizzle a foil covered
baking tray with the coconut oil, and bake the mushrooms for 10 min. Slice the
mozzarella, and place on the mushrooms to melt for 5 min or so. Once ready, top
with slices of tomato, diced onion and avocado then sandwich in the crunchy
iceberg leaves.
